Technology Training

Tech Training Unit

VIB Technology Training, headed by Alexander Botzki, offers end-to-end courses that provide hands-on experience with a variety of tools and methods offered by VIB technologies. These courses cover topics such as sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, flow cytometry, single cell, spatial and bioimaging.

With a modular format, participants gain knowledge in DNA and RNA sequencing, gene expression profiling, quantitative proteomics, as well as various metabolomics techniques like targeted, untargeted and tracer metabolomics, light and electron microscopy applications, and data analysis and visualization. The training aims to provide a solid foundation in technology-driven life science research approaches and to prepare individuals for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, and medical diagnostics. Additionally, VIB Training offers training in advanced technologies such as CRISPR, stem cells, organoids, and synthetic biology.

To further upskill scientists in data analysis, VIB Technology Training offers a variety of hands-on training in applied bioinformatics, statistics, and AI related to VIB Technologies. These sessions teach life scientists how to retrieve and manipulate increasingly complex biological datasets and employ the most appropriate data analysis methods. Basic and advanced training in programming, data analysis pipeline development with Nextflow and Galaxy, software design, research data management, and the use of specific commercial bioinformatics software tools are also available.
