​On Tuesday November 18, Peter Carmeliet (VIB Vesalius Research Center, KU Leuven) took his audience on an exploration of the world of blood vessels. He expressed his fascination with Vesalius, the world-renowned anatomist who mapped the human body through cadaveric dissections –unprecedented in his time. In presenting the life and boundary-breaking scientific work of Vesalius, professor Carmeliet drew upon striking parallels with the essence of current scientific research. Only this way solutions can be found for today's diseases.
