The VIB Center for Biology of Disease at the K.U.Leuven is a vibrant and international research centre where key issues relevant to major human health challenges are tackled. In the laboratory of neuronal communication we study the molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission in health and disease and we use genetics as well as imaging and electrophysiology to study neuronal communication.
In collaboration with other team members, you will tackle research questions related to synaptic function and Parkinson’s disease. You will use genetic screening in fruit flies to identify novel components that modify synaptic transmission and Parkinson’s disease progression and you will be use electrophysiological and advanced imaging technology to follow activity in live neurons, including the neuromuscular system as well as dopaminergic neurons in the fly brain.
