Junior or Senior Technician


Prof. Kodi Ravichandran will start up a new laboratory within the Inflammation Research Center (IRC) in the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) and Ghent University (from January 2017). The focus of the research will be on apoptotic cell clearance and regulation of inflammation. We are looking for a highly motivated technician to support our research topics on the mechanisms of cell clearance and how they relate to health and disease.

You will be guided by a postdoctoral researcher and your work will cover a range of techniques including: recombinant DNA technology, cell culture, transfection of cells, analysis of gene and protein expression, western blotting, transgenic mice and mice genotyping, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry.


  • You will work full time and can start immediately.
  • We are looking for a professional bachelor (or higher) with a biomedical, biochemical, or biotechnological background, and at least some years of working experience.
  • You have experience with some of the above-mentioned techniques and should be willing to learn new techniques as well as expand your knowledge
  • You can work independently in an enthusiastic research team.  You are passionate about science and enthusiastic to be part of a starting research lab
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English
  • You are a team player with a pro-active and results-oriented attitude, highly organized and structured, and a detail-oriented lab worker with good interpersonal and communication skills
