The VIB Department of Plant Systems Biology (PSB, www.psb.ugent.be) is a world-leading plant science institute with the mission to integrate genetics, genomics and bio-computing to unravel the biology of plants and to further explore the potential of plants to build a sustainable world. Several bioinformatics research groups at PSB (http://bioinformatics.psb.ugent.be/) develop novel software tools for the integration of large-scale data sets, comparative genomics and the inference of regulatory networks for which an extensive computational infrastructure is available. In order to strengthen the synergy between wet- and dry-labs within PSB, and to support the use of bioinformatics approaches by wet-lab scientists, PSB is looking for an Experienced Bioinformatician.
Responsibilities include:
• You will be the central contact for the bioinformatics needs of the wet-lab research groups, providing project-based bioinformatics support to wet-lab scientists (e.g. transcriptomics, comparative genomics, translational research, biostatistics,…)
• Computational analysis of next-generation sequencing data and other large-scale biological datasets devised towards the wet-lab scientists needs
• Streamlining computational data analysis through the development of Galaxy workflows, primarily for next-generation sequencing data analysis, leveraging standard bioinformatics analysis to non-experts.
