Please find below a list of documents to submit when applying to the VIB International Ph.D. Program.
1. Application form
You must submit the completed application form to the Program Committee before 15 February 2010. Application forms received after the deadline will not be considered.
Simply enter your data into the form; do not change the template. Make sure you adhere to the guidelines at the beginning of the application form!
Electronic Submission
After completion of the form, save it under a new name ("your name”-2010).
We only accept e-mail submissions. Please include with your application scanned copies of your university records (do not submit high school diplomas).
Include Application-2010-"your name” in the subject line. Please send in your application only once. Take into account that processing your application will take some time.
We do not consider CV-based applications to our program unless they are accompanied by a completed application form !
2. Letters of recommendation
In addition to the completed application, we request two letters of recommendation from scientists/colleagues who are familiar with your previous academic work and who can judge your potential as a Ph.D. student. Please forward the recommendation forms to each of these referees and ask them to send their letters of recommendation directly to us. The letters of recommendation are confidential and are an essential part of your application. It is your responsibility to contact your referees and to ensure that they write to us before the deadline for applications on 15 February 2010.
Please note that we will not be able to process your application without the letters of recommendation!!!
What happens after you have sent in the documents?
We will acknowledge the receipt of your completed application forms by email, and you will receive a registration number. If you don't receive a confirmation email with your personal application number within one week after sending in your application, please inform us, in that case we probably did not receive your email in good order.
All applications are reviewed by the Program Committee of the VIB International Ph.D. Program. By the end of March 2010, short-listed candidates will be notified by email with an invitation for the selection interviews. These will take place from 17-20 May 2010. The invitation will have all information concerning visa and travel/hotel arrangements. We will reimburse travel expenses and provide free accommodation during the selection interviews. Offers of admission to the VIB International Ph.D. Program will be made during the selection interviews.
Selected candidates can start with their Ph.D. at the university of their thesis advisor, or promoter, around the opening of the academic year in October 2010. The selected candidates will be fully funded with a yearly net salary of 22.980 €. This amount includes the regular salary, vacation money and an end of year premium.
